We are deeply trained, thorough… and we think outside the box. We listen to our patients and help them feel autonomous, and supported.
If we prescribe medication, we will work with you to understand why you’re taking it, how it works and what to expect. And we’ll be with you every step of the way.
Unambiguously profound impact on my life
You’ve had an immeasurable, yet unambiguously profound impact on my life and I will never forget the way you have made me feel and the lessons I have learned. I know I am not alone in that regard.
The office environment that you provided and the exceptional professionals that gathered under that roof are top notch. I am so grateful to have you as my psychiatrist and to have worked with Kate in a group setting. I know for sure my life would not be as manageable and joyful as it is right now, without the help of Psych Garden.
The greatest integrity and skill
You and Psych Garden have the greatest integrity and skill that is rare in our line of work. You are an exceptional clinician and a good human!
I couldn’t imagine going inpatient or detox
Stopping use was a scary prospect but I couldn’t imagine going inpatient or detox. You took your time and we felt very taken care of. We appreciated that you were so straight-forward with us and explained what I’d feel… It wasn’t easy but it got me off to the right start.
The progress I've made since I started here is remarkable
What you've created here is really special and unique. I've been in therapies for 16 years but the progress I've made since I started here [a few months ago] is remarkable… the combination of your therapy - which goes so much deeper than any other I've had - with the meditation group, the case management and the medication changes - they've all come together... I cannot say how fortunate I feel to have found you all.
Clear and reassuring
I was nervous about medication, but you respected that, and made me very comfortable with the options. Throughout my treatment, you were clear and reassuring and were always attentive to what I wanted to do. That made all the difference.
My family and I are extremely grateful to you
I just want to say my family and I are extremely grateful to you. My wife always says if we’d just moved to Boston for you, it would be worth it. I agree. Keep up your great work.
Something new is beginning
I’m still a bit wrung out from today, but feeling deep and strong, like something new is beginning. Thank you!
You honored each of us
When no one else could, you gained Mike’s trust and respect. When no one else would, you invited me – as Mike’s mother – to be a part of the wellness process. You honored each of us and recognized the separate struggles we were each experiencing; in doing so, you gave each of us hope and the strength necessary to address our challenges.
Medications are not a stand alone treatment
Ultimately, our goal at Psych Garden is to use the lowest dose of medication that still delivers effective outcomes for our clients. It’s important to be aware of how medications work in the brain and body – and how they interact with one another.
Because our team has deep knowledge in this area, we’re able to work with each client to help them reduce their drug use gently. Sometimes, it just needs a thoughtful review and understanding of pharmacology to understand how to get the right balance for them. So, for instance, we might work with clients on drug doses and also on meditation, mindfulness, caffeine use, exercise, or how to handle medications.
The art and science of effective psychopharmacology
At Psych Garden, we’re committed to developing our insights into the effects and efficacies of medication and treatment-resistant depression. Our team includes three Ivy League trained psychopharmacologists (Cornell, Harvard, Stanford), each a specialist diagnostician in their own right.
Before prescribing a course of medication, we will work with our clients to first establish what could be at the root of the condition we’re supporting. For instance, depression may be caused or exacerbated by bipolar disorder (BPD), thyroid imbalances, sleep challenges, addictions, or circumstances in the client’s life. Once we have a full picture, our team then decides if the client has had an adequate trial of the right medications for their symptoms, at the right doses. We also consider questions such as: are we using the right class of drugs, such as SSRIs vs older drugs? We may also use ketamine for treatment-resistant depression.
No two patients are the same. So we develop and adapt each patient’s medications to their particular needs and the results of treatment we’ve observed so far.
The different types of addictions treatments
When we work with our clients to support recovery from addictions, we aim to go to core issues and experiences. A lot of addiction therapies focus on behaviour change. In some cases, this can be effective. But for lasting recovery, you need to go to past experiences and traumas, and consider how each client uniquely handles emotion and anxiety. We’re not just going for symptom management. We’re going for transformation.
Addictions can be difficult to overcome on your own. That’s why we offer a variety of treatments, each tailored to meet your specific needs. We’ll provide you with the support and wisdom you need to get back on track.
Addiction is a difficult problem to overcome, but with the help of our experienced therapists, you can get on the path to recovery. Our supportive and understanding approach will help you feel comfortable seeking treatment for your addiction.
We understand that addiction is a complex disease that requires tailored treatment plans. Our team of experts will work with you to develop a plan that fits your needs and helps you achieve the behavioral changes you need for lasting success.
Sometimes, medications can be effective for treating addictions and withdrawal. We work with patients to develop tailored treatment plans that meet their specific needs, and we support them through every step of the process.
